- Tenure Track Assistant Professorship of Statistics
Description
Applications are invited for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in statistics within the Department of Mathematical Sciences, which offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in statistics through its Division of Statistics and Data Science. Candidates from all areas of statistics will receive full consideration. This position will contribute to the department’s research interest in statistical methods for big data—including, but not limited to, high dimensional data analysis, statistical machine learning, computational statistics, and uncertainty quantification—with applications in areas such as imaging, spatial, network,
and genomics data.
The appointment is expected to begin on August 15, 2026. Review of applicants will begin on November 17, 2025, but the position will remain open until filled.
The standard teaching load for research-active faculty is six credit hours per semester. New faculty receive a 25% teaching reduction and a reduced service role in each of the first two years.
The department is dedicated to excellence in both research and teaching. Statistics faculty in the department are involved in both methodological and interdisciplinary research. They have diverse areas of research interests, which include scalable Bayesian methods, spatial statistics, and statistical methods for massive or complex data, in general, and high-dimensional data analysis, statistical machine learning, uncertainty quantification, statistical genomics, analysis of network data, and survey sampling, in particular.
