The Permanente Medical Group, Inc. (TPMG - Kaiser Permanente Northern California) is one of the largest medical groups in the nation with over 9,500 physicians, 21 medical centers, numerous clinics throughout Northern and Central California, and an over 75-year tradition of providing quality medical care.
We are currently searching for an MD or PhD Director to lead the Microbiology/Infectious Disease division at our Berkeley laboratory. The Microbiology Director would oversee clinical, technical, and operational aspects of a 24/7 large volume testing service for 21 medical centers across our Northern California network. The position will require strong communication skills and partnership with Infectious Disease Physicians and laboratory leaders from across the region. Duties would also include working with Infection Prevention and Antibiotic Stewardship Pharmacy programs as well as being a liaison to county and state public health laboratories. The ideal candidate will have an MD with board certification in either Clinical Pathology or Infectious Diseases with fellowship training in Medical Microbiology (or equivalent). Consideration will also be given to those with prior experience leading a large Microbiology lab and/or PhD candidates with training in Medical Microbiology.

Full-time annual salary range is $335,040 to $341,760 plus additional potential incentives up to $23,600**. Reduced schedules with pro-rated compensation may be available. **Some incentive opportunities are estimates based on potential premium pay.
