The Department of Chemistry at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, invites applications for an Assistant Professor on a 9-
month tenure track position, to begin August 2022 on the Tampa campus. The ideal candidate will establish a research program in
biochemistry, physical chemistry or biophysical chemistry.


Organizational Summary


The Department of Chemistry is a cornerstone of the College of Arts and Sciences, and one of the largest academic units within the
University. The Department has greater than 40 faculty including core facility managers and serves more than 3,500 undergraduate
majors and approximately 150 graduate students. Research strengths include the areas of materials and catalysis, medicinal chemistry
and drug discovery, computational chemistry, and chemical education. Access to high field NMR, X-ray crystallography, proteomics,
mass spectrometry, LC/MS, screening instrumentation and high-performance computing is provided through core facilities. The
Department is dedicated to developing globally competitive undergraduate, graduate and professional programs as well as expanding

Position Summary


The successful applicant is expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program that complements or strengthens
existing research excellence within the department. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the chemistry curriculum and
provide undergraduate and graduate level teaching.

Requirements

Qualifications/Education


Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Biochemistry, Chemistry or a closely related field with a demonstrated record of
achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant
Professor.


Preferred Qualifications:


Preference will be given to applicants with postdoctoral experience.
